Thursday
well, we had another fantastic work day. BUT..........................They van left the job site on a
tow truck! We know it is headed for Middlesboro KY but not sure what shop. We think the starter went bad. Stay tuned.
One of the projects is completed, Buds job. A late night crew went out after dinner to make progress on another one of the projects. My group should be able to wrap up shortly after lunch.

Hello out there to all you slaves of the workforce.
Spending our days here in the depths of the "Apple-atcha" mountains, the NRUMC crew is facing challenges even greater than those of the jobs they left. (Not me personally. I'm worked to the bone by Larry Clingerman.)
I'm going to give you an overview of the job undertaken by
The Job Squad
Myself (Guru and Overlord of the team)
Colin "Lice-en-ring" (Certified Taste Tester)
Matt Klino (Roof Monkey)
Bonna Milem (Spider Killer)
Susan Snyder (The Lunch Time Alarm Clock)
Carol Alderman (Just your Average Bully)
Marcus Burry (King of the Screwdriver Set in Reverse)
Great Bill Clickety Klino (Actual Guru and Overlord)
This is the trailer that we're working on. It was leaking and the water damage was crippling the entire house as well as providing an uncomfortable situation for our host Virginia.

As you can see, the preceding group that tackled the house was made up of city slickers. That's right, I said it. I don't know who did this cob job but that entire roof is supported by about three nails. They didn't spread it all the way over the trailer either, allowing rain to continue soaking the whole roof. NRUMC put forward the money to finish the job.
The ceilings were completely ruined. The following are some photos of the drywalling we've been doing.

Susan tackled every job she could get her hands on and excelled at drilling. I tried to get a photo of her sticking her tongue out in concentration but I missed it.
Marcus: "Colin! Come help me put this screw in. I've tried to put it in about five or six times but it just won't go in."
Colin walked over and laughed. "Broseph. Try taking it out of
reverse.

Stay classy NR-Dub.

Tuesday
O what a wonderful day. And, how the lord finds to challenge us to strengthen our faith. Every year there comes a large challenge for us to ponder and reach deep in our souls to find where our faith is, and prove to our lord that we here to be his servants. Though you need to be here with us to understand, be assured that the NRUMC group is so true to there faith and you only need to be so proud of your representation here at Henderson.
Our progress on our groups project was substantial today. By tomorrow we shall be over the hump and gunning for completion by Friday Morning. We have a amazing group that came about today and was able to work in small groups with a little leadership every now and again was made it possible for me to keep focus in the so intricate parts that needed to be accomplished today before we could move on with the roof. IF, later we can get the pics to work on the blog i will show you.
Peace out

First Day Progress
Hello, We have had a very successful day. Once again our group has the opportunity to step up and go beyond the expected. And we do this so well. All 3 of the projects that have been given to us are in need of further design, and work than the settlement had planned for us. we felt that going about the projects the way they were scheduled would be substandard. So, in true NRUMC fashion we have gone beyond the expected. More work, and Money but it is the only way we know , we need to go away from these projects knowing we did them right. We are trying to get the photos on the blog but we have not been succesful with today's pics.
Goodnight

FOOD! Deb Phillips had a delicious lasagna prepared for the hungry group.
The lasagna didn't last too long.
Bud Smith packed a special birthday cake for Tom Phillips' birthday. 47 years old but he doesn't look a day over thirty!
The cake didn't last much longer than the lasagna thanks to the hard work of Marcus Burry!

Two Months until Kentucky!
Plans are coming together well for our 7th trip to Henderson Settlement. We'll leave on Saturday morning, August 2, and return on Saturday evening, August 9.
Currently, we have 15 young adults and 7 drivers/adult leaders signed up.
If you have any questions about the trip, please contact Bud Smith or myself.
As you start thinking about packing, please take some time to prepare spiritually for the trip. The theme this year is "Giving What We Have." The scripture text is Acts 3:1-10.
Reflect on this theme... What is it that you can give as an individual--for the work project, for the others in our group, for people we will meet at Henderson Settlement? What is it that we can give together as a group? What is it that you are hoping others will give you? What do you hope that God will give you through this experience?
I'd be interested in your response. Feel free to add comments to this post.
